February 26, 2015 —
The Hudson Tigers won their eighth straight regional team title last Wednesday beating Springport 39-33 and earned the right to head back to Battle Creek. Hudson (21-5) heads to Kellogg Arena on Friday as the number three seeded team in Division 4 where they will take on sixth seeded Norway (18-5). Defending state champion New Lothrop (26-1) will go against Cass City. The number two seed is Decatur (29-2) and former LCAA foe Manchester (28-7) is in as the number four seed. The Dutch should meet New Lothrop in one semifinal and Hudson and Decatur are expected to do battle in the other final four match.
The Tigers are led by veteran and long-time head coach Scott “Scooter” Marry and some talented senior wrestlers. Roddy Hamdan, Michael Prock, Tyler Roberts, Mitch Ely and Clayton Brockway will lead the Tigers to the Cereal City with hopes of bringing another team state title back to Hudson.
Last year New Lothrop beat the Tigers 33-22 in the final match to snap the string of five consecutive team titles for the Tigers and Hudson wouldn’t mind some revenge but it will be a most daunting task as NL has simply reloaded again this winter.
The Tigers wrestle at 1:00 Friday afternoon and then will go back on the mat at 9:30 on Saturday morning. If they can win those two bouts they will probably face New Lothrop at 4:00 Saturday afternoon for the Division 4 team state championship.
