Senior Center kitchen to move to Hudson Sept. 7

August 25, 2010 —

For several months Lenawee Department on Aging officials have been negotiating with the City of Hudson to move the kitchen that prepares meals from its current location in Addison to the Community Center in Hudson.

The move is primarily being made to centralize food service in the western part of the county. For many years meals had been prepared at Addison, and brought to Hudson and Morenci; as of September 7, meals will be prepared in Hudson and taken to the other two locations.

The Hudson Senior Citizen Center will be closed Friday, September 3, in order to finalize the move. There will be cooking equipment brought in from Addison, and two staff members will be moving from Addison to Hudson. In recent weeks minor improvements were done to the city-owned Hudson Community Center kitchen, and a new freezer was brought in from Adrian.

The move does not mean that services for senior citizens will end in Addsion; in fact, the building is undergoing structural improvements, with new windows, insulation and siding being installed this month. All services in Addison will continue as before.
