Music in the Park held at Clayton

The Clayton Summerfest 2010 Committee sponsored the 14th Annual “Music In The Park” on Thursday, September 9, at Clayton Memorial Park. The guests were welcomed by Robert Smith, President of the Committee. Dr. Ben Fulayter was Master of Ceremonies.

Following the invocation by Rev. Linda Jo Powers, the Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Stephanie Brown. The Clayton Community Chorus, under the direction of Paul Burcroff, sang several selections. Beverly Burcroff was the accompanist.

Solos were sung by Rosella Haney, Barbara Baker and Alice Fulayter. A trio composed of Elaine Brown, Hugo Ham and Paul Burcroff sang “Wabash Cannon Ball.” A ladies trio of Rosella Haney, Barbara Baker and June Borge presented “Take Me Home Country Roads.” Beverly Burcroff lead the chorus and audience in some old time songs in keeping with the theme of the concert “The Celebration Continues – Clayton 140th Anniversary.”

Following the benediction by Rev. Powers, the Chorus closed the program with “Good Night Ladies.” Refreshments were served inthe Gazebo by members of the Clayton Community Club and the Summer-fest Committee.

The Summerfest Committee will sponsor a Halloween Party for all area children on October 24 at the Fire Hall.
