May 25, 2011 —
Hudson’s Memorial Day parade will take place on Monday, May 30, starting at 10:00 a.m. The route this year enters Main Street from Tiffin Street and will proceed down Main to Grove Street. After going the length of Grove, the route will turn on Division Street, cross 127, and enter Calvary Cemetery. Again this year, application has been made for a military jet “fly over” as the parade begins. At this time, confirmation has not been received.
The Hannon-Colvin Legion Post 180 color guard will lead the parade. All veterans are welcome to join up at the formation point on Tiffin Street. Hudson Tiger Marching Band will also be part of the festivities. Other groups or organizations are encouraged to be involved, and need to be on Tiffin Street by 9:45 a.m.
A ceremony at Calvary Cemetery will have Pastor William VanValkenburg of the Seneca Community Church as the speaker. Legion members, Hudson High Band, and students will also participate in the program, which will close with a rifle salute and the playing of Taps. Immediately following, the American Legion Honor Guard will reassemble at Maple Grove Cemetery to honor the veterans buried there with a rifle salute and the playing of Taps.
