Clayton Summer-Fest draws closer

The Clayton Summer-Fest 2011 Committee met Tuesday, June 21, at the Clayton Town Hall with 14 members present. The business meeting was conducted by the President, Robert Smith. Lois McNeil gave the Secretary’s report, and Wilma Baker gave the Treasury Report.

During the various committee chairmen reporting, it was announced that Parade Entries are now being accepted for the August 6 Festival. The parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. Anyone interested in entering the parade should contact Paul Burcroff at 445-2481. Also, entry forms are available for Queen contestants at the Clayton Post Office or by contacting Cathy Brown at 445-2227. Crafters and vendors should also contact Mrs. Brown. Anyone willing to enter the Talent show should contact Terry Deken at 448-2211.

Summer-Fest T-shirts are available for sale and can be purchased by contacting Lois Remily at 445-2225. Darlene Clark reported the Car Show will have Registration beginning at 9:00 a.m. and judging at 12:30 p.m.

Following the parade, Olde Tyme Games will be available for all children which will include a Dunk Tank, Jail, Tricycle Race, Kiddie Tractor Pull and much more.

This year the committee will sponsor a Home Decorating contest. homes should be decorated with a patriotic theme in keeping with the overall theme of the Festival, “America the Beautiful -Small Town USA.”

This concluded the business meeting. The Committee will meet each Tuesday starting July 5 and continuing to August 2. Refreshments were served.
