The Clayton Summerfest 2015 Committee met Tuesday, May 15 at the Clayton Town Hall to work on plans for the August 8 Festival. The business meeting was conducted by Vice President Paul Burcroff. The Secretary and Treasury reports were given by Lois McNeil and Wilma Baker.
Election of Officers was held with results as follows: President Cathleen Brown, Vice-President Paul Burcroff, Secretary Lois McNeil and Treasurer Wilma Baker. The various Committee Members were appointed by the President.
There will be a Queen Contest, with Chairmen Danita Scheick, Cathy Brown and Betty Patterson. Forms are available at the Clayton Post Office.
The day’s activities will begin with lunch at the Fire Department hosted by the Clayton United Methodist Women, and will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The parade will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed with a program at the Clayton Fire Hall. There will be games and various activities throughout the afternoon. Bingo will begin at 5:00 p.m. and the street dance will begin at 7:00 p.m. with Brian Harper, D.J. There will also be a hay ride for the children under the supervision of Bill Deo. There will be free drawings throughout the afternoon for children and adults.
There will be a full schedule of events available at a later date. The Committee will meet every two weeks during June and July to formalize plans.
This concluded the business meeting. Refreshments were served. The next meeting will be June 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Clayton Town Hall.
