While on patrol a little before 9:00 AM on Tuesday morning, Hudson Police Chief Charles Weir observed a car in Will Carlton Park, backed in and partially hidden from view.
Upon investigation, Weir could smell a strong odor, and could see that one person was dead inside the vehicle. Since chemicals were apparently involved, he backed off and called for the Hudson Fire Department and Hudson Ambulance.
“It became a hazmat situation once we realized chemicals were involved,” the chief stated. “It was over the counter chemicals that had been mixed.”
The identity of the victim has not yet been released, but Weir indicated it was a young man in his late twenties.
The Lenawee County Medical examiners office will be doing a follow-up, Weir stated. He added, “It is safe to go out there and the site has been decontaminated. It is safe.”
