December 5, 2011 —
Once again, Hospice of Lenawee is sponsoring “Lights of Love” remembrance trees throughout Lenawee County – specifically in the communities of Adrian, Blissfield, Clinton, Hudson, Morenci, Onsted and Tecumseh.
These holiday trees will be lit on Sunday, December 4, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at special lighting ceremonies in each location – with a reception following. The public is welcome to attend the lighting ceremony of their choice.
This year the tree will be lit by the Eldon VandeZande family, in honor of “Van,” who was the long-time master of ceremonies of the event.
The purpose of the Lights of Love trees is two-fold. Hospice of Lenawee erects these trees each year in memory of the families Hospice has served since its inception in 1982. The community is also invited to place lights on the trees in memory or in honor of those they wish to remember during this special time of year. Amidst the gaiety of the holidays, the remembrance trees offer a point of stillness where loved ones are remembered in an elegant way.
When a light is dedicated, the Hospice will send a letter to the family acknowledging the dedication. Free will donations may be made to the Hospice and will be used to further the work of Hospice throughout the community.
