Oklahoma! Comes To Hudson

March 14, 2012 —

About 60 Hudson High School students are busily preparing for next week’s opening of the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical, Oklahoma! The play will open Thursday, March 22 and run through Sunday, March 25. Curtains open at 7:00 Thursday through Saturday and 3:00 on Sunday. Tickets remain $5.00 for general admission, which can be bought at the door each performance. Reserved seating for the first two rows will be on sale March 19 beginning at 5:00 in the middle school gym.

Each year brings a new story, a new cast, and new experiences. It was our privilege to receive a grant from the Hudson Education Foundation to bring in professional mime and actor, Michael Lee to work with our students. Mr. Lee taught specifics of movement on the stage, working as a team, and the basics of stage combat. Mr. Lee travels between Texas and Michigan with stops in between. He is the Artistic Director of Opus Mime (since 1995) as well as his newest company, Austin Mime Theatre (2011). Mr. Lee is one of the last and most advanced students of the late French mime Marcel Marceau whom he had the privilege of working with nine different times. He is also the movement coach for the gold and silver medalists in ice dance at the Vancouver Olympics and continues his work with the current ice dance world champions. We were honored to have such a talented, professional man work with us.

The cast and crew of Oklahoma! look forward to presenting their work to our community and say a big thank you to the HEF, parents, and community members for their ongoing support.
