This year’s drama class has had the privilege to present and compete with other county students in Michigan Forensics competitions held in Adrian.

At the county tournament, Hudson students placed in several categories: Bringing home first place honors in the multiple category was Elizabeth Johnston, Payton Darr, Kallie Leathers, Alex Leathers, Zach Jacobs, Dominic Keene, and Hayden Keene. Third place in the same category was earned by Carlee Perin, Lydia Hoffman, Ali Anderson, and Julia Uerpmann. Jordan Hayes brought home a second place award for humorous monologue as well as another second place for a humorous duo with his partner, David Bough. Ashlee Jones earned third place in storytelling with Shel Silverstein’s famous story, The Giving Tree. The final category in which Hudson students medaled was the dramatic duo performed by Chelsea Fritz and Elizabeth Johnston. Once again, Hudson students competed well and were rewarded for their efforts.

Saturday, May 5 the public will have a chance to enjoy the works of these students in their public performance. Curtains will open at 7:30 in the middle school gym. This year’s theme for the show is The Masks We Wear as we explore the purpose of drama and our tendency as part of the human race to hide behind different masks. Mrs. Curtis’ freshman classes have explored this theme as well and have created their own masks which will be on display along with art work from Mr. Mitchell’s art students this evening. Doors open for this free event at 6:00 to view and appreciate the talents of these students.
