Clayton Summerfest plans under way

The Clayton Summerfest 2012 Committee met Tuesday, April 17, with 15 members present. The business meeting was conducted by the President, Robert Smith. The Secretary and the Treasurer reports were given by Lois McNeil.

Committee reports were given. Cathleen Brown reported that she has application forms available for the Queen’s Contest.

Also forms for the Talent Show are available by contacting Terry Deken, and is open to all ages.

The Theme for the 2012 Festival is “Clayton, a Caring Community – Neighbors Helping Neighbors.” There will be t-shirts for sale at a later date.

The August 11 Festival will begin with a pancake breakfast at the Fire Hall starting at 7:00 a.m. The parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. with line-up at 10:45 a.m. A program will follow the parade at Memorial Park. The Clayton Community Chorus will sing several selections, the Queen will be announced, Grand Marshall introduced, and announcement of the “Volunteer of the Year.” Several other plans were discussed and will be finalized at a later date.

This concluded the business meeting. A social time followed with refreshments served. The next meeting will be May 15.
