Carnegie Library millage passes

August 6, 2014 —

A .75 mill proposal to fund the Hudson Carnegie District Library was passed by voters on Tuesday — but just barely.

The vote totals were:
Hudson City Yes 160 No 101
Hudson Twp. Yes 99 No 110
Rollin Twp. Yes 8 No 10
Wheatland Twp. Yes 16 No 32
Dover Twp. Yes 15 No 38
Medina Twp. Yes 12 No 7
Total Yes 310 No 298

The millage is expected to raise approximately $105,000 annually to support the library.

“We appreciate all who voted,” said Hudson Librarian Joann Crater. “Thank you for your support. We will work to bring you the best services we can for our community.”

The Carnegie District Library was set up in hopes of putting the Hudson Library on a more sound financial footing. The library district takes the control and funding of the library fromthe city and places it under an independent board. The .75 mills will represent only a slight increase over the current budget.
