The Hudson Tiger Middle School Science Olympiad Team earned their 11th straight trip to the State finals last Saturday by capturing their 2nd straight Regional Title. The tournament, held for the first time at Hillsdale College hosted fifteen schools from all over southern Michigan including Pittsford, Saline, Chelsea, Hillsdale, and Madison. Hudson won a team record 17 medals in 23 events which range from construction to pencil and paper studying events.
Gold medals were awarded to Andrew Enerson and Zach Luma in Trajectory, Skylar Stacey and Sean Murray in Fossils, Hannah Schoonover and Marissa Timko in Bio Process Lab, Jordan Hayes and Ben Sunderman in Junkyard Challenge, Skylar Stacy and Gryphon Walkowicz in Trajectory, Brie Wilenius and Kelsy Bloomer in Wright Stuff and Dan Komarynski and Cody Nelson in Physical Science Lab.
Silver medals were won by McKendry Evans and Cassee Milligan in Wright Stuff, Jeannette High, Andrew Enerson, Zach Luma, and Cassee Milligan in Pentathlon, Alex Messer and Justin Boies in Elevated Bridge, Skylar Stacey and Sean Murray in Battery Buggy, Gryphon Walkowicz and Sean Murray in Compute This, Hannah Schoonover and Marissa Timko in Disease Detective and Write it Do it.
Bronze medals went to Ben Sunderman and Jordan Hayes in Ornithology, Brie Wilenius and Jordan Hayes in Science Crime Busters, Jackie Raeff and Kelsy Bloomer in Anatomy, Dan Komarynski and Cody Nelson in Dynamic Planet, Marissa Timko, Hannah Schoonover and Emily Ladd in Experimental Design, and Alex Messer, Ember Grames, Dan Komarynski and Emily Ladd in Pentathlon.
The Science Olympiad State Tournament will be held on the campus of Michigan State University on May 1st. Hudson is the defending Class C State Champions and will be looking to repeat in 2010, as well as capturing their 4th State Title in the past 9 years.
