Nine Arrested on Terror Plot Charges

Eight people, some of them local, were arrested over the weekend in a raid near Cadmus, and a ninth was arrested Monday near North Adams. News reports say that the group, known as “Hutaree”, was plotting to kill a law enforcement officer and then attack the funeral procession in an effort to “intimidate and demoralize law enforcement, diminishing their ranks and rendering them ineffective.”  The attack was allegedly planned for April.

David Brian Stone of Clayton was arrested Sunday, he was believed to be the group’s ringleader.  Also arrested Sunday  were Tina Stone, 44, of Clayton; David Brian Stone, Jr., 19, of Adrian; Joshua Clough, 28, of Blissfield; Michael Meeks, 40 of Manchester; Thomas Piatek, 46, of Whiting, Ind; Kristopher Sickles, 27, of Sandusky, Ohio; Jacob Ward, 33, of Huron, Ohio. A ninth suspect, Joshua Matthew Stone, 21, of Clayton, eluded arrest Sunday but was captured Monday in a standoff near North Adams.

The FBI, Michigan State Police and members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force were involved in the arrests, which has drawn nationwide media attention
