A
swinging musical comedy hit, "Sky High” is to be presented May 10 & 11
at the high school gym. Players are: Terry Ireland, Kathy Freeborn,
Lynn Bailey, Joyce Baker, and Tom Gamble. The play is
directed by Mrs. Lucile Myers and Mrs. Frances Freeborn.
The choir and soloists will display their musical talents in several
memorable numbers. The school band is directed by Mr. Blackburn.
Three
brothers are graduating from three different schools and they are:
James Hephner with BS in Mechanical Engineering from Tri-State
University, Angola, IN on June 1; Thomas Hephner with an
Associate degree in Electrical engineering Technology from Sam
Technology Institute, Indianapolis, IN on June 4th; and Marvin
Hephner graduating from Hudson High School on May 26.
There
will be an Open House at the School sponsored the Home Construction
Project on Lincoln St. It will be May 18 & 19 to show a five bedroom
“Blue Floor” home with full ceramic bath and brick veneer exterior;
recreation room with a brick fire place, a beamed ceiling in the family
room and fully landscaped lot. 22 students participated in the
construction from Hudson, Addison and Sand Creek. Three appraisals for
home have been obtained and the asking price will be $27,500.
James Merillat has been elected State Vice President for District 25
of the Michigan Jaycees on April 24 at the Michigan Jaycee Region I
annual meeting at Jackson.
Two
brothers were sharing same room at Thorn Hospital recently. They were
Kenneth and Bob Gray, Photo of both. One in for heart attack and
other for medical reasons.
Janet Elwer and Larry J Wright of Adrian are engaged and plan
a June wedding.
Mrs.
Catherine Stucky has joined the Post Gazette staff as a special
writer and had couple nice articles in this issue/along with a special
poem.
The
tenth anniversary of Elkins-Beggs Junior Lodge #102 of the Odd Fellow
organization was held with a dinner prepared by Mrs. Raymond
Galbreath and Mrs. Harold Holmes, mothers of former members
of the Hudson lodge. There was a nice article about various speakers
including Mayor Harlow Eastman.

Daniel Stucky is now stationed at U-Tapao Air Force base and works
on the flight line bringing in the B-52’s as they return from air
bombing missions.
Diane Giddings and Douglas C. Rutan were married May 4 at
Addison United Church by Rev. Mrs. Donald Smith.
Recent
births include a son to Mr. and Mrs. Stacy Campbell; a daughter
to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Terrill; and a daughter to Mr. and Mrs.
Richard McNett of Clayton.
Christopher Saylor celebrated his first birthday with 21 gathering
to help him celebrate.

Jack Young, who has been stationed in Florida on the USS Farragut
DLG-6 is home on leave and will return to Norfolk, VA for sea duty
aboard the USS DAHLGREN, DLG-12 .
Rev.
Joseph Filonowicz, Pastor of the Congregational Church, has resigned
effective August 1. He plans to move to Detroit to work with an
organization working with problems of the inner and outer city.

Donald C Smith received his BA Degree from the University of
Michigan on April 27 and graduated with high honors He plans to enter
Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY in September.
The
Hudson Alumni Banquet will be June 8 at the high school gym Edward
Engle, former Hudson High School coach in the early 1940’s will be
the master of ceremonies. The banquet will honor the classes of 1943,
1918 and 1968. James Hazen (1943) is chairman of the class of
1943 and E C Rickenbaugh for the class of 1918.
Winners
of Interlochen scholarships were announced and they are Roberta Huff
- Barbershopper Scholarship; Jim Bills - Jaycee Tige Lyons
Memorial Scho1arship; Janice Gardiner United Fund-Valentine
Spring Memorial Scholarship; and Mary Newton - Hudson Area Band
Booster Scholarship.
John
Marry is the new president of the Jaycees and other officers are:
First Vice President Gaylord Moses; Second Vice President -
Robert Duncan; Secretary, L. C. Baker; Treasurer - Elmer
Marry; Board of Directors - Gordon Chilcote, Doug Sparks,
Chris Brett, John Stuart and Gerry Overy.
New
glass doors have been installed at the library as a gift from Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Hutchings, Mrs. Elizabeth Stewart and Mrs.
Eunice Wirick.
Nancy Middleton has been awarded a scholarship to Olivet College for
a 3 weeks workshop, given in honor of Miss Florence Hall by
Hudson State Savings Bank and Thompson Savings bank.
Joyce Moll of Toledo and Terry E Brinkerhuff are engaged.
Brinkerhuff is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brinkerhuff,
formerly of Hudson.
Edward M Gray will receive a Master’s Degree in Business
Administration from University of Detroit on May 4.

Lickly Sr. was honored at a luncheon in Lansing on Apri1 2 He’s been
employed by the Michigan State Highway Department for 35 years.
PFC
Wesley Hutchison is home on leave from Ft. McClellan, AL before
going to Vietnam. He entered the service December 1966.
Carol Jean Adams and Gregory William Siefker of Ypsilanti
were married April 19 at Sacred Heart Church by Rev. Fr. G.R. Loewen.
Kathy Trites of Milford and Ray Ireland are to be married May
17 at the Methodist Church in Highland.
Candidates for Girls’ State sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary
have been selected and are Barbara Onweller, Joelyn Monahan,
Cathy Camp and Sue Dunne. Girls State will be June 16-23
at the University of Michigan.
Janet Grace Roys, a sophomore at Jackson Community College, has been
awarded a Michigan Public Junior College Scholarship to the University
of Michigan.
Local
births include: a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. James Duff; a daughter
to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bertalon of Pittsford; a daughter to
Mr. and Mrs. Alden Austin; a son, Tracey Lee to Mr. and Mrs.
William Robison of Camden, formerly of Waldron; and a son, Bruce
Alan to Mr. and Mrs. Bille Hills of Waldron.
Meyer
Furniture stores in Hudson and Morenci were hosts to their employees and
spouses on April 17 for a theater and dinner party in Toledo. The
occasion was to celebrate 15th anniversary of opening of the Meyer
Furniture Store in 1953 and the April 1963 Grand Opening of their
present location.
Hudson
Tigers are still on top; they have a 3-1 record with the LCAA and 5-1
season. There was a photo of team in this issue.
There
was a photo of 4th graders at Miller School dressed in homemade costumes
of Indians. They’ve been studying about Michigan early history and also
visited other grades at school.
