' 40 YEARS AGO '

HAZEL PRAY MONAHAN is a native of Hudson. She graduated from Hudson High School and Riverside Hospital School of Nursing and Michigan State University with a BS in Nursing. She retired from Nursing in 1984 after nearly 40 years, five years of which she was a nursing instructor. She became curator of the Hudson Museum in 1988 and began writing for the Post Gazette shortly after that.

She is married to Patrick Monahan.  They have no children but enjoy all their nieces and nephews.

She is active in Hudson Woman’s Club, Business Women of Lenawee and her Riverside Hospital Alumni Association of which she is a past president. She was recently featured in a video with other nurses from the hospitals in Toledo area about Nursing as it used to be. She is active in Open Door Bible Church.

JIM WHITEHOUSE was born in 1946, raised in Morenci MI and graduated from Morenci High School in 1965.  He graduated from Albion College in 1969 and from the University of Toledo School of Law in 1972.  Jim practiced law in Hudson MI from 1973 - 1992.  He is currently Associate Vice President, Albion College.

Jim and his wife Marsha have two children, T J Whitehouse and Jill S Whitehouse both graduates from Hudson High School.

Jim has been writing for the Hudson Post Gazette since 1987.
 

Carole Schultz Knowlton graduated from Spring Arbor University in 1969.  She retired from full time teaching in 1991.  Since then she has tutored, substitute taught, and completed a writing course.  She enjoys writing and has had over sixty-five short stories published.  She has written and published three family history books in which she was ably assisted by her husband, Tom. 

She and her husband have lived in the Hudson - Addison area for thirty-five years.  They have one grown son, Dwight who lives with his wife Tracy in Phoenix, Arizona.
