Thompson Museum announces release of CD recording
The
William
G. Thompson House Museum and Gardens is happy to announce the release of
a compact disc recording of the Regina music box, which is part of the
Museum's collection. The “Thompson Treasures: Regina Music Box
Recordings, Volume One” went on sale
July 24, 2006
and is being sold as a fundraiser to help defray the operating costs of
the Museum and Gardens. The play list of the CD includes such titles as
“Abide With Me”, “When You Were Sweet 16”, and “O Christmas Tree”, as
well as 32 other songs. “The Regina Music Box was a favorite of William
G. Thompson and he would proudly play it for visitors to his home”
commented Ray Lennard, curator of the Museum. “Our guests today enjoy
hearing it as well, and they are amazed by the over 90 discs that we can
choose to play” he added. All of the discs were recorded by Mr. James
Avis of
Washington, D.C. and have been placed on CD. “We expect to
release a second CD this fall, in time for Christmas shopping” said
Lennard. The CD costs just $10.00 plus tax and can be purchased from the
Museum, located at 101 Summit Street
in
Hudson. CDs may also be purchased by sending a check or money order to
the Museum in the amount of $12.60 (to cover shipping and handling). For
more information, call Ray Lennard, curator, at 517-448-8125.
