Music in the
Park at Clayton
The 10th Anniversary of “Music In The Park” was held Tuesday,
September 13, sponsored by the Clayton Summer-Fest 2006 Committee. Due
to inclement weather the concert was held at the Clayton Fire Hall, with
a large crowd attending. Rev. Craig Pillow was the Master of
Ceremonies. Following the invocation by Rev. Nathan Fidler, the
pledge off allegiance was led by
Erin
Cox
and Tiffany Hickman, Jr. Girl Scouts. Hugh Dilworth,
President of the Summer-fest Committee welcomed the guests. The Clayton
Community Chorus under the direction of Paul Burcroff sang
several selections. Beverly Burcroff accompanied the chorus at
the piano. There was a solo by Lori DeLine and a surprise special
number by Mr. Burcroff and Company, assisted by Phyllis Brown.
The audience also participated in a sing-a-long. The benediction was
given by Rev. Fidler. This concluded the concert. Refreshments were
served by the Clayton Extension Club and Summer-Fest Committee. The
Committee will sponsor a Halloween Party for all area children on
October 29 at the Clayton Fire Hall starting at
2:00 p.m.
Regular meetings of the Committee will resume in February, 2007.
Lutheran World Relief
Betty
Capper,
member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, is pictured with a School Kit for
Lutheran World Relief. Members of Our Saviour Lutheran Church
collected school supplies (paper, scissors, rulers, pencils, pencil
sharpeners, construction paper, and crayons) for Lutheran World Relief.
Members collected enough school supplies for 35 school kits. Lutheran
World Relief school kits may provide the only supplies for children
returning to school after the disruption of war. School kits help
parents continue their children’s education, even while living in a
refugee camp. A school kit may also be used in adult literacy classes.
Lutheran World Relief provides assistance to those in the tsunami area
and in emergency relief efforts overseas. Lutheran World Relief also
helps in emergency responses to hurricane victims. Our Saviour Lutheran
Church will also be sending quilts and layette kits to Lutheran World
Relief.
