HOMECOMING
KING AND QUEEN Cross country runners Brandon Bailey and
Lauren Shaffer were named king and queen at half time of the
Homecoming Game last Friday evening. Unfortunately, the Tigers came out
on the short end of a 21-14 score against the Clinton Redskins.
Mrs.
McCarty's 5th grade class has been very busy studying rocks and
minerals and what makes up the earth's atmosphere. We are the
headquarters for Rush Hour Recycling. This is a program which allows our
classroom to organize and collect all the paper and newspaper at Lincoln
Elementary. Every two weeks, we collect, sort, and weigh our recyclable
paper and have volunteers transport it to the recycling center. Thank
you to all of the volunteers that make this program a success.
Sacred
Heart School students worked very hard this week on their Outdoor
Habitat. A garden spider was brought to school to show the students
and they decided to give him a new home in their habitat. All of the
students have enjoyed watching him make his web and eat his prey. The
students are learning a great deal about plant
life"

A
Tree Planting ceremony at Lincoln Elementary School on Wednesday,
September 27,2006, honored Grace Frese. The plaque at the base of
the tree reads, “Grace Frese, Foster Grandparent Extraordinaire!
1981-2002.” Mrs. Frese was also extraordinaire when it came to
gardening. Amongst her many botanical treasures always stood a Gingko
tree. Her Lincoln tree is a Gingko. Pastor Troy Neujahr offered a
blessing for the planting. He related Mrs. Frese’s attributes to that of
a tree - a comfort and shelter for children. The tree was planted by her
children, Mr. Jon and Mrs. LuAnna(Frese)Daane, and Albert Frese, and
her granddaughter, Angie Bowlin. Fellowship time followed with many
shared memories-all extraordinaire!
MORGAN
MCFAUL from Hudson recently competed in the Jackson Citizen Patriot
running series, where she earned a first place finish in the female 14
and under category. The running series consists of eight different runs,
most of which are 5k distance (3.1 miles). The races attract runners
statewide, but mostly from the Jackson, Hillsdale, Calhoun and Lenawee
County areas. The series began back on April 15th and concluded on
September 9. Congratulations to Morgan on her first place finish and for
training hard and having fun over the summer. Morgan is currently an
eighth grader at Hudson Middle School.
