                                   Halloween in Clayton MI

The Clayton Summer-Fest 2006 Committee sponsored a Halloween Party Sunday, October 29, for all children. Cathleen Brown was Chairman of the event. There were over 100 children in costume that paraded before the Judges, Judy Okopski, Heather Freeman, and Dawn Boatman. The children were divided into two age groups.

The winners in the ages from one to 6 were for the prettiest costume, First Prize, McKynzie Pikel, Second Prize, Aubri Carrico, and third prize, Megan Kliendienst. For the Ugliest Costume, first prize, Ethan Brown, second, Joseph Mayes, and third, Zachery Armstrong. For the most Unusual Costume, first prize, Brandon Jacobs, second, Madiah Derr, and third Haidyn Bloomer. In the seven to thirteen age group the winners for the Prettiest Costume, first prize, Briena Lammot, second prize, Shannon Olivarez, and third prize, Alexis McNichols. For the Ugliest Costume, first prize, Gabriel Lee, second, Cody Nelson, and third Tyler Dornbos. For the Most Unusual Costume, first prize, Mark Baker, second, Melissa Harmor, and third, Stephen Simpson. There was a contest for carved or decorated pumpkins, Prizes awarded for the Prettiest were first place, Stephanie Brown, second, Terrie Hiser, and third, Erin Cox. For the Ugliest first prize was awarded to Jacob Baker, second, Mark Baker, and third, Ethan Brown. For the Most Original, first place was won by Caster Brown, second, Madiah Derr, and third to Adam Baker. Each child had the opportunity to make a craft item, under the direction of Betty Patterson and Darlene Clark. Games included Bean Bag Toss, Ring the Pop Can, Bones in a Jar, and Pinatas. Games were under the direction of Kip and Jamie Smith, Paul Burcroff, Robert Smith, David Lee, Terry Deken, Ardith Dowling, Wilma Baker, Lois McNeil, and Cathleen Brown. Hay Rides were given by Robert Deo, supervised by Teresa Hamann and Andrew Harmor, and were enjoyed by the children and their parents. There was also a guessing game supervised by Terry Deken. Children were asked to guess the weight of a pumpkin that was on display. Prizes were awarded to Nickie Carrico, Gabriel Lee, Media Deer, and Abby Blankenship. There was a jar filled with candy corn and the children were to guess the number in the jar. Prizes were won by Stephanie Brown, Erica Hiser, and Mark Baker. At the conclusion of the activities refreshments were served by the Summer-Fest Committee and Clayton Extension Club members, Ardith Dowling, Wilma Baker, Lois McNeil, Chris Hill, and Michelle McCullough. Ethe Hamann presented each child with a bag of treats as they left the party. David Lee, John Lee, and Ken Beavers provided hot dogs and chips for all those present. The Clayton Summer-Fest 2006 Committee will sponsor a Christmas Lighting Ceremony and Concert on December 5 at 7:00 p.m.
