New Council
The
complexion of the Hudson City Council changed a bit Monday evening when
two new members were sworn in by City Clerk Kim Murphy. From left

council will change more when a new member is selected to replace

Literature, Multiplication and Division
Mr.Garr's
4th grade class is busy working on their literature skills. Here Mr.
Garr is shown helping Tyler Robert's find the correct answer.
Some other things they are working on in class are multiplication and
division. The class looks forward to a great school year.
Newspaper Scavenger Hunts
Miss
Lautenschlager's
4th grade class has been hard at work! Here we are shown working on one
of our weekly newspaper scavenger hunts, which teach us how to locate
information in a newspaper. Some other things we are working on include
a literature unit for the book
Shiloh,
becoming better writers through our writing workshop, math, Michigan
history, and an animal science unit.
Sacred Heart Students to the Polls
Just
as community members went to the polls to vote for candidate and issues,
so to the Sacred Heart students went to the polls to vote for their
student council representatives. The students had to go through the
campaign process to let their fellow students know what they could do to
make the school a better place to learn. The students had to register
and vote in their appropriate district. This was a great way for our
students to learn how our government works.

Grant Awarded
The
Hudson Area First-Grade Brownie Girl Scout Troop 180 applied for and was
awarded a grant from
United Way to cover expenses related to our service projects for the
2006-2007 school year. Project Teddy Bear is our first service project
of the 2006-2007 school year. Rescue personnel have found that teddy
bears provide welcomed on-site and in-transit comfort to children
involved in house fires, car crashes, and other traumatic events. In
times of crisis, children respond positively to the familiar comfort of
a teddy bear. With
United Way
funds, we purchased 25 plush Gund Teddy Bears.
www.StuffedAnimalFarm.com
of Gainesville, Florida worked with our troop so that we would be able
to obtain a large quantity of high quality bears at an affordable price.
The sixteen Brownies in Troop 180 made gift tags for the bears and
presented the teddy bears to the Hudson Fire Department, Hudson Police
Department and the Hudson EMS Department on
Wednesday, November 8,2006
as part of their weekly meeting. The motto of Brownie Troop 180 is
Helping Hands for Hudson. Thank you United Way for helping us help
Hudson!
