'THE WONDER OF CHRISTMAS' CANTATA

The Hudson Community Choir celebrates its eighth year with another spectacular Christmas Cantata. This year’s cantata is “The Wonder of Christmas” by Tom Fettke and Ken Bible. The performances will be held Friday and Saturday, December 1 and 2,2006 at 7:30 p.m. and again on Sunday, December 3, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. All three concerts will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 207 S. Market Street, Hudson. Featuring the largest choir yet, “The Wonder of Christmas” will have nearly 100 vocalists, a children’s choir, and an orchestra. Participants are from over two-dozen area churches. Cyndi Wolf will again be the musical director, Jan Rickard continues as the pianist, and two narrators, John Enerson and Paul Nafziger, will tell the Christmas story. Soloists for the event include Pat Bacalia, Dave Rickard, and Don Turner. There is no charge for admission, but a free will donation benefits the Hudson Ministerial Association and the Hudson Community Choir.

ONE MILLION DOLLAR GRANT

INTERIM CITY MANAGER Kim Murphy accepts a check for a $1 million grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation that will be used to construct a new water tower and public road, water and sewer improvements in the Industrial Park.  The developments will support the expansion of Hi-Lex Controls, an expansion that's expected to create 160 new jobs. Presenting the check were State Senator Cameron Brown and State Representative Dudley Spade, as  Lenawee Tomorrow director Dave Munson and County Commissioner Rob Hall look on. The MEDC grant is being made available with funds provided by the federal Community Development Block Grant Program. The Hudson Local Development Finance Authority will contribute about $300,000 to the project.

Lights of Love December 3

Once again, Hospice of Lenawee is sponsoring the “Lights of Love" remembrance trees in the communities of Adrian, Blissfield, Clinton, Hudson, Morenci, Onsted and Tecumseh. These holiday trees will be lit on Sunday, December 3,2006 at 6:00 p.m. at a special lighting ceremony with a reception following. The public is welcome to attend the lighting ceremony of their choice. The purpose of the trees is two-fold. Hospice of Lenawee erects these trees in memory of the families which Hospice has served since its inception in 1982. The community is also invited to place lights on the trees in memory or in honor of those they wish to remember in this most special way. Amidst the gaiety of the holidays, the remembrance trees offer a point of stillness where people are remembered in an elegant way. When a light is dedicated, the Hospice will send a letter to the family acknowledging the dedication. Free will donations may be made to the Hospice and will be used to further the work of Hospice throughout the community.

Call Hospice of Lenawee at
(517) 263-2323 if you have any questions.
