Skip Hanna has been selected as Rima’s May Worker of the Month.
Skip’s career at Rima began on May 6, 1985. He began as a Small Machine
Operator and soon moved to Pack Sort. Skip had training as a Draftsman
in a previous life and so he moved on to serve as Rima’s Draftsman for
almost six years. From there Skip became an Inspector where he continues
to work today. Skip has served in one capacity or another in the Quality
area for the past twenty one (21) years.
Skip was nominated for this honor by Shift Coordinator, Bill Leathers.
Bill stated, “Often quality related questions come up and Skip has
always taken the time needed to explain to an unsure operator to the
point that they understand not only how to, for instance, check a
dimension, but to grasp what the print is really calling for. This is a
big help to me because it allows me to concentrate on training the
operators on the machine aspects of their job. Aside from this, on many
nights Skip does anywhere from one to four setup’s, about 80% of
incoming, and still finds the time to keep up with line inspections.
Most recently Skip has worked weekends helping pack parts. It is a
pleasure to have someone with Skip’s knowledge on second shift and
working here at Rima. Congratulations Skip!”
Quality Manager, Tia Colagiovanni added. “Skip is always
available to provide another perspective on a tough or unusual
situation. He has a lot of wisdom and experience at Rima relating to
quality and is a great resource for people here -- because of his
diverse background. Skip can offer insight on print interpretation,
part quality and gauging, to name a few. In addition to that, he is a
hard worker. As our customer requirements continue to become tougher and
Rima continues to become more efficient, Skip has become a very flexible
worker. He is able to cover line inspection, do setups, dock audits,
incoming inspection and anything else that comes at him in a single
night. He is always conscious of what he is leaving for the person
coming in after him and tries to leave as little work as possible. He
makes a point to do his last line inspection very close to the end of
the shift so there is not a last check for the person following him. I
know Skip takes pride in his work and in being a considerate coworker.
Thanks Skip!”
Skip and Pam reside near Clayton. Skip has a keen interest in
motorcycles. He can most likely tell you every make a model ever made.
He has spent countless hours rebuilding and restoring bikes and enjoys
riding. Skip also has a collection of over 30 guitars and enjoys playing
Blues and Old Style Rock ‘n Roll. Congratulations Skip!
