Rima Worker of the Month - Karl McCarty
                      (September 8 2006 Hudson Post-Gazette Publication)

Karl McCarty has been selected as Rima’s Worker of the Month for June. Karl joined the Rima Team on March 31, 1998 as a part-time, temporary employee. He was hired as a full-time employee on June 15, 1998. Karl’s career at Rima has encompassed several areas including Shipper, Buyer, Estimator and Tool Management Person.

Kathy Stanley nominated Karl for this honor because of his willingness to help out in Purchasing and for his cost savings during his two months there. When Rima’s Buyer left the organization, Rima needed someone who had experience in that area. Karl was our first choice. He stepped up to the plate and helped the Department Manager, Jeff Gagnon during the interim. In addition to doing a good job, he saved Rima about $20,000 during that two month period. Now that Rima has a Buyer on board, Karl has willingly apprised him of work in process and assisted in any way possible.

Kathy stated, “Karl has been very busy since taking on the added purchasing responsibilities. He has been doing a good job and has saved Rima a considerable amount of money. Just recently, Karl negotiated a deal with a propane company that will save Rima and its employees a significant amount of money over the next year. Karl is a conscientious worker and really seems to be in his element when haggling to get the best price.” Congratulations Karl!

Jeff Gagnon, Purchasing Manager added, “I haven’t known Karl for very long, but from what I know about him now, we were very fortunate to have him jump into the Purchasing role for the time it took to replace our Buyer. I was pleasantly surprised that no only did Karl easily keep up the MRO portion of the purchasing function; he made great strides in finding cost reductions totaling $18,212 per year. The best one of these cost reductions is for cheaper LP Gas for Rima and for Rima workers. Karl does have one fault, he is so polite when he calls me ’Sir,’ it reminds me of my age. Thanks, Karl!”

Debi Odette, Vice President of Operations reiterated. “We would like to recognize and thank Karl for jumping in and helping in the Purchasing area over the past couple months. Karl did a wonderful job keeping supplies in stock, as well as reducing costs to both Rima and Rima employees. Karl has also been helpful in training our new buyer. Thanks, Karl!”

Karl resides in Hudson with his son Gavin. Karl enjoys home construction projects, woodworking and watching his son play baseball.
