SENIOR OF THE MONTH Ashley Hackett receives the Kiwanis Senior of
the Month award from Kiwanian Charles Mansfield.
October’s Senior of the Month honor goes to Ashley Hackett. From sports
to scholastics, Ashley has accumulated quite a resume. A member of the
National Honor Society since her sophomore year, Ashley is secretary of
that organization this year. Ashley received Kiwanis Scholastic honors
awards every year since her freshman year, and this year she was named
as a representative to
Michigan
Auxiliary Girls State. Other leadership roles include being the
president of Youth Group and a member of Civitan Youth Leadership in her
junior year. Ashley played volleyball and softball through her junior
year for the Lady Tigers and played basketball as a freshman and
sophomore. She was captain of the volleyball team in her sophomore and
junior years. Ashley volunteers for numerous school and community
projects. She was in Relay for Life and Church Festival her first two
years of high school. As a sophomore, Ashley provided after-school
tutoring. She also volunteered to be a lunch buddy through Big Brothers,
Big Sisters and participated in Red Cross blood drives during the last
two years. As a junior, Ashley served on Prom Committee, and volunteered
for Special Olympics and Civitan of Lenawee charity events. Ashley
remains undecided about what college she will attend next fall, but she
will pursue a career in psychiatry. Ashley is the daughter of Robert
Hackett of
Hudson
and Tammy Acker of
Jackson.
