Fireman Awarded for Action

Hudson Fireman Jeremy Davis recently received an award from
the Lenawee County Sheriff's Department for his action in helping to
save two lives in a dangerous situation at Lake Hudson last January.
At l:49 pm on
January 13 the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office dispatch received a 911
call that two people were in the water at Lake Hudson yelling for help.
Thomas and Annette Fredrick had driven back to the boat launch
area so Thomas could show Annette where he fishes in the summer. They
noticed the subjects out in the water by a boat. At first Thomas thought
they might be diving but decided to get out and look more closely. They
could hear a faint yell for help. He called 911.
Clayton Fire
Department and Hudson Fire Department were immediately dispatched.
Cpl. Paterson of the Sheriff's Department was also dispatched. CPL
Paterson requested that Addison F.D. be dispatched with their boat as
well as the Sheriff’s Department Dive team. Clayton Fire Department
arrived and requested two helicopters be sent to the scene also.
CPL Peterson
arrived just before Addison’s boat. When the boat arrived, Cpl.
Paterson, Capt. Cleveland from Addison Fire Department and
Firefighter Jeremy Davis from Hudson Fire Department all boarded the
boat and headed for the first subject who had drifted away from the
boat. He was clinging to a decoy but was unable to move due to the
severe cold. Paterson and Davis pulled the man aboard. They then sped to
the second man and also pulled him aboard. They quickly returned the men
to shore where both were Life Flighted to St. Vincent Hospital in
Toledo.
The water
temperature at the time was 37f with a brisk wind. It was determined
that the men had been in the water for over 90 minutes.
From the time
dispatch first received the call to the time the first man was pulled
out of the water was only 25 minutes. "This is a great example of a
coordinated effort along with dedicated people who will put their life
on the line at a moments notice," a spokesman for the Lenawee County
Sheriff's Department said.
Musical Comes to
Hudson High School
Make plans now to
attend this year’s all-school play on March 22, 23, and 24 beginning at
7:00 pm. The cast of sixty Hudson High students has been busy preparing
to present Disney’s High School Musical. The stage play, based
on the immensely popular Disney channel movie of the same name, is hot
off the presses with the first amateur stage performance produced last
summer. This is a timeless story of growing through high school,
finding your true interests, and becoming who you are with the help of
friends and family. It is great family fun, appropriate for all ages,
with upbeat music and plenty of dancing. Tickets will be sold at the
door: $6 for adults and $4 for children. If you are interested in
reserving front row seats for any of the shows, the tickets are $10 and
may be reserved before the show. Please see a cast member if you are
interested in the front row seats. Any front row seats that are not
reserved before the show will be available at the door for the same $10
price. See you when the curtain opens!
Dave Rickard to be Honored at Reception
Dave Rickard

least twenty years, he directed the all-school play and gained a
reputation of producing high-quality entertainment for the community and
a rewarding experience for the students involved. Those involved in the
all-school play would like to honor him with a reception immediately
following the Friday night, March 23, performance of this year's
production of High School Musical. The play begins at 7:00 in the middle
school gym. The dessert reception will follow in the school cafeteria.
If you have
enjoyed the shows over the years or have had the privilege of working
under Mr. Rickard's direction, please stop by to visit for a few minutes
and perhaps leave a card in the basket to express your gratitude or
share a memory.
