Evergreen Golf Course purchased
- To reopen April 14 2007

BUSY HUDSON
BUSINESSPEOPLE Matt and JoAnne Shaffer have purchased Evergreen Golf
Course, which went bankrupt last fall. The course is planned to reopen
April 14.
Matt and JoAnne
Shaffer, life long residents of Hudson have purchased Evergreen Golf
Course. Opening day for the course is planned to be April 14.
The course was forced
to close last fall due to bankruptcy, and whether it would reopen this
year was in doubt for some time.
"We are very excited,"
Shaffer explained. "There is a lot of work to be done. Trees are still
down from the January ice storm and the infrastructure of the course is
in terrible condition."
Soon after the
purchase was finalized Friday a crew was out working on the course.
Shaffer stated “I know
the Golf Course can be turned around and be returned to the condition it
once was. It will be “Evergreen” once again”.
The Shaffer’s, not
afraid to take on a challenge are also owners of Shaffer’s Self Storage,
Shaffer’s Propane Fill Station, Shaffer’s Tent Rental and Co-Owners of
Butch’s Sports Bar, all located in Hudson.
JoAnne Shaffer
commented, “It takes the great people of our community to make a
business successful”. The area golfers and their leagues have been so
patient with us during the purchase of the golf course and the
outpouring of community support to help put the course in playing
condition has been outstanding!
"JoAnne and I ask the
community to please be patient with us." Matt said. " We have many ideas
for the Golf Course but we also know that our goals will be time
consuming and will take time to enact them".
"We would like to
acknowledge Randy Darr and Bob Darr at Darr Real Estate and
Ron Haber at
County National Bank for their diligent, hard work to make the agreement
happen," Shaffer added. That is what makes our community great, we have
great people like Randy, Bob and Ron who care about our community and
want to see it be successful.
Brownie Girl Scout Troop 180
The Hudson Area
First-Grade (Helping Hands for Hudson)
launched their United Way funded spring service project: Project Spring
Flowers with a visit to Bean Creek Garden Center. Janet High, Owner of
Bean Creek Garden Center, is providing instruction and facilities for
the planting of many varieties of flower seeds purchased by Brownie
Troop 180. The girls will transplant the flowers at least one time
before they are ready for planting throughout Hudson. In preparation for
this project, the girls created original designs for a denim apron and
then painted their design using fabric paints. Thank you United Way for
helping us help Hudson!
Sacred Heart School Beach Party
Sacred Heart
School had a Beach Party for the up coming preschool and kindergarten
students. Some of Sacred Heart's graduates helped with the games and
face painting. For the entertainment we had a clown and balloon
artist. At the end of the night principal Mrs. Johnston read a special
story to all children! photo by
