Brownie Girl Scout Troop 180
The
Hudson Area 2nd Grade Brownie Girl Scout Troop 180 (Helping Hands for
Hudson) undertook a community service project - Operation Happy Sock. We
recycled 172 socks and turned them into catnip toys for the homeless
cats at the Lenawee Humane Society. We toured the facility during our
meeting and met many loveable cats and dogs who need a home. A big THANK
YOU goes out to the families at Lincoln Elementary and Sacred Heart
School who cleaned out their sock drawers for us and to United Way for
helping us purchase the supplies to fill our socks.

Dr. Kathy Malnar Announced Her Retirement Plans
On
Monday, November 19, 2007, the Hudson Area Schools’ Board of Education
began to focus on the next stage in the district’s leadership team.
Superintendent, Dr. Kathy Malnar, has announced her plans to retire
effective July 1, 2009. Few districts, when faced with a change in
Superintendents have the opportunity Hudson has – an adequate and well
planned transition to new leadership.
Dr.
Michael Osborne, current High School and Middle School Principal will
interview for the Superintendency of the Hudson Area Schools which will
be vacant upon the retirement of Dr. Malnar. According to Board
President, Ron Haber, Dr. Osborne has demonstrated his commitment to the
Hudson Area Schools and community as well as the leadership abilities
necessary to take Hudson Schools well into the future. Having served
as the High School Principal for the past five years, Michael Osborne
completed a doctoral degree in October of 2007, and looks forward to the
opportunity to discuss his candidacy with the Hudson Board of
Education. Dr. Osborne and his wife Nancy have five children, three of
whom still attend the Hudson Schools.
Current
Superintendent Malnar will have completed ten years at the helm of
Hudson Schools when she retires and is enthusiastic about the future of
Hudson Area Schools. “Few districts have the opportunity to accomplish
such a thoughtful and well planned transition. “Hats off to the Board
of Education and the community of Hudson! Our years in Hudson have been
wonderful. We came to Hudson for a job and found a home”, she
continued. Malnar looks forward to remaining in Hudson, a place that
she and her family have come to love.
