Beauty and the Beast
is All School Play
The
costuming for this year's all school play, "Beauty and the Beast" is
nothing short of fantastic. Senior Kellie Wonders does a great job as
"Beauty" and senior Zach Warner does a near professional job of playing
"The Beast". There's plenty of other great costumes, and a great story
to be told. The curtain rises at 7:30 this Thursday, Friday, and
Saturday. New this year is a Sunday matinee at 3:00. Tickets will be
sold at the door for $5.00.

This
weekend, March 13-16, we invite you to step into the enchanted world of
Broadway’s modern classic, Disney’s "Beauty and the Beast".
Based on the Academy Award winning animated feature, the stage version
of
Disney’s
Beauty and the Beast" includes all of the wonderful songs from
the film, written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, (the team
responsible for Little Shop of Horrors), plus new songs written
especially for the stage version by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice.
You
will be transported to a lovely French provincial town where the
beautiful Belle, played by newcomer to the stage, senior Kellee Wonders,
lives with her father – a dotty inventor. When her father, senior Jesse
Webster, doesn’t return from a trip to the local fair, Belle rushes off
to find him. To her dismay, she discovers he is being held captive in an
old castle by a horrible monstrous beast played by senior Zach Warner.
She trades her freedom for his and the “tale as old as time” begins.
Lumiere, the candlestick (junior Zach Pearce), Cogsworth, the clock
(senior Andrew Osborne), Mrs. Potts (senior Heidi Stockford) and Chip
(sophomore Nate Nastase), all welcome Belle to the castle hoping that
this is the girl to make them “Human Again.” They lead the cast,
inviting Belle to “Be Our Guest” and performing with her in a
celebration of song and dance.
Meanwhile back in the village, Gaston (senior Sabin Enerson), stung by
Belle’s refusal of his marriage proposal, is plotting with his silly
sidekick LeFou (senior stand-out Joe Rodriguez) and Monsieur D’Arque
played by newcomer Nathan Riley to put Belle’s father in an asylum.
According to Gaston’s plan this will cause Belle to marry him to save
her father. Of course the three silly girls, Mary Bocks, Maria Miller,
and Katelyn Cordero, who have been chasing after Gaston do not like this
idea one bit.
Back at
the castle, the way Belle tames the unfortunate Beast and his ultimate
transformation into a handsome prince continues to enthrall audiences.
You won’t want to miss the transformation scene with effects never
before done on the Hudson stage. Filled with spectacular costumes
(created especially for this show by Jean Durling), and set (designed
and built by Paul Merillat and Rick Riley), Disney’s Beauty and the
Beast" offers a great opportunity to bring the entire community
together for family theatre at its best.
Don’t
miss this year’s all-school play. The curtain rises at 7:30 this
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. New this year is a Sunday matinee at
3:00. Tickets will be sold at the door for $5.00.
